Roger Demuth Biography

Roger De Muth is an award winning Designer, Illustrator, Photographer and Gardener. His Illustrations have won Certificates of Merit from the Society of Illustrators in New York and Los Angeles. His work has appeared in the American Institute of Graphic Arts, The New York Times, Playboy, and the Design Journal, Seoul, Korea to mention a few.

Roger has been honored to work with the Cartoon Network, Cracker Jack, Masterpieces Puzzles, Smokey the Bear, Xerox, Silver Burnett & Ginn, Consolidated Edison, WGBH Boston, Kodak, Xerox, Big Blue Dot, Disney, C.R. Gibson, American Greetings, Niagara Mohawk & numerous companies throughout the United States and Europe.

His first Children’s book “Messy Bessie, Where’s my homework?” 2007 won the Philadelphia Sketch Club’s Book award, and a Creativity award from Create Magazine. “Please Don’t eat me2008 recently won the “Wacky award” from Publisher’s Weekly. Roger’s 3rd Children’s book- Dinner for Eight, March 2009 will be published with Blue Apple Books in Maplewood, New Jersey.

This past year, Roger created a portfolio of 5 panorama photos of the Landmark Theater in downtown Syracuse for the Syracuse International Film Festival. The Landmark Theater portfolio was awarded to the top 15 movies in the 5th Annual Syracuse Film Festival. The Landmark Theater Portfolio won a Silver Award in this year’s 38th Annual Creativity Contest, and included in the 4th Annual International Association of Panoramic Photographers exhibit.

This past summer, the Gardens surrounding the De Muth home in Cazenovia were part of the Garden Conservancy Open Day’s Program and were open to the public as a benefit for the Cazenovia Garden Club. The Gardens were selected to receive the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation “Landscape Award” in 2007.

Recent shows of Roger De Muth’s work include “Panorama photos of Central New York,” at the New Woodstock Free Library , September 2008, and “Central Park Panoramas”at the Chameleon Gallery in Cazenovia, NY November 2008.

Roger De Muth is currently Associate Professor of Illustration at Syracuse University in his 30th year. He is represented by the Chameleon Gallery in Cazenovia, NY and Elise Rosenthal in Los Angeles.

Roger is currently working on a series of panoramic photographs of Barcelona, Seville and Granada Spain, and a book about Kangaroo’s in polka dotted canoes.
